Saturday 28 January concert in the Milan Duomo with the music of the Gustavus Choir

On Saturday 28 January 2023, an appointment in the Milan Duomo in the sign of great music.
At 4pm, inside the Cathedral, there will in fact be an intense concert by the Gustavus Choir, the official choir of Gustavus Adolphus College, based in St. Peter, Minnesota, in the heart of the United States of America.
The ensemble will be conducted by Maestro Brandon Dean; Maestro Chad Winterfeldt will be seated at the Great Organ of the Cathedral for the occasion.
The Gustavus Choir performs sacred music from all periods: in this case the concert will feature Hymn of Glory by Marco Enrico Bossi for organ, small percussion and alumni choir; Kyrie from the Missa Regenis by Uģis Prauliņš for a cappella choir; Crucifixus by Antonio Lotti for organ, Ez dut ahaztu from Thierry Machuel's Paroles contre l'oubli for a cappella choir and percussion; Pour out your healing salve and the swallow by Caroline Shaw for a cappella choir; Radiant Bright by Jake Runestad for a cappella choir, world premiere; Bar xizam by Abbie Betinis, for a cappella choir with soprano, alto and tenor soloist; Wake, Awake for Night is Flying in an arrangement by F. Melius Christiansen for a cappella choir; KwaMashu - South African Folk Song on an arrangement by Theodore Cookson for choir, percussion and alumni choir; Song of Triumph by Dale Grotenhuis for a cappella choir and alumni choir; Notre Pere by Maurice Duruflé for a cappella choir and alumni choir, with organ introduction; Beautiful Savior by F. Melius Christiansen for a cappella choir, soprano or alto (soloist) and alumni choir; Praise to the Lord with arrangement by F. Melius Christiansen for a cappella choir and alumni choir.
Founded in 1932, the Gustavus Choir is the flagship choir of an active and highly integrated choral programme of over 250 students. Rooted in its Lutheran choral heritage, the Gustavus Choir performs sacred music from all historical periods, but also promotes new compositions by contemporary musicians. The choir premiered new works by internationally renowned composers, including Eric Whitacre, Stephen Paulus, Imant Raminsh and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.
The concert, lasting about 60 minutes, is free of charge from the façade of the Duomo, with access through the door reserved for the worshippers (extreme north door, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele side) starting at 3.30pm, subject to availability.
